Chapter 13
Should Women Train Differently?
Heyho! Have you ever wondered if there is actually a difference between how women and men should ideally perform their strength training? Today we will explore exactly this topic!
Women often have exceptionally strong legs compared to their upper body. This means that they can perform racehorse-like feats when they are squatting, even though they cannot do pull-ups or have to do push-ups on their knees.
It is astonishing how much training volume women's legs can handle (compared to their relatively weak upper body) and how quickly they recover from training sessions!
For a woman who trains for aesthetic purposes and wants full efficiency, it makes sense to take advantage of this leg dominance by using many multi-joint exercises and a high volume for the legs.
With Treeceps you can select the "lower body focus" to achieve this goal when creating a training plan. This setting is often preferred by women, but is also useful as a man if you want to focus on the lower body.
Women tend to recover somewhat faster between sets than men, but otherwise the same basic principles apply to women's strength training as they do for men!
Unfortunately, many women are still afraid of looking too massive when training with heavy weight. Most women just want to "tone up".
In their opinion, small dumbbells are sufficient for this. What women often really want, but are often not aware of, is more muscle and less body fat!
The last thing women should be afraid of is looking massive. Building considerable muscle mass is damn hard work that takes years.
In order to effectively build muscle and get closer to your dream body as quickly as possible, it is therefore crucial that women don't sell themselves short when it comes to choosing weights!
Because despite the fact that there are small differences between an optimal training approach of men and women, the basic principle is the same: over time you need to become stronger in a few basic exercises.
