Chapter 11
Benefits of Strength Training
Hey! After we spend the last days on how Treeceps can help you increase your daily activity, I’d like to now return to your strength training.
Today I’d love to share with you the many health benefits of strength training!
First, the most obvious benefit: If you do strength training properly, your physique will improve. Your body becomes defined, the muscles become firm. Your body looks fit and healthy!
In addition, muscular imbalances that arise during everyday life can be compensated for by strength training. This makes your posture more upright and makes you seem more active to people around you.
Regular strength training makes many things more pleasant in your everyday life: lugging water boxes, carrying travel bags - everything becomes easier with strong muscles.
Weight training also lowers your risk of injury. Ligaments and joints become more resistant to heavy loads, your bone density increases, and your muscles stabilize your body and relieve the intervertebral discs.
The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn in your basal metabolism. Experts estimate that the body consumes around 50 more calories per day per kilo of muscle mass.
As you can see, strength training also has numerous advantages apart from making your body look more attractive or getting stronger in certain sports exercises.
Last but not least, strength training also plays an increasingly important role with increasing age, since you slowly lose muscle strength with increasing age. - We'll talk more about that tomorrow!
