Chapter 40
The Role of Sleep
Hello! Today we’ll talk about one of the strongest, but most underrated, levers for progress: sleep.
While you sleep, your body repairs muscle fibers, processes training stimuli, and regulates hormones for energy and recovery.
Too little sleep doesn’t just make you tired – it reduces strength, focus, endurance, and even your ability to build muscle.
Many studies show: 7–9 hours of sleep per night is optimal for performance, health, and muscle growth.
Poor sleep increases stress hormones like cortisol, which hurts recovery and even affects appetite.
This often makes training feel harder – not because you’re weaker, but because your body isn’t fully recovered.
Treeceps shows your muscle fatigue, but good sleep makes a huge difference in how quickly those values drop.
Regular sleep times, a quiet room, and screen breaks before bed help you sleep more restfully.
A short evening walk or relaxing ritual can also help your body prepare for rest.
The better you sleep, the stronger you are in training, the more motivated you feel – and the faster you’ll see progress.
Sleep isn’t optional, but a central part of your fitness journey.
Summary: Training makes you stronger – sleep makes you stronger. Combine both to get the most out of your body.
