Chapter 39
Should I Train When Sick?
Hello! Today we’ll answer an important question: Should you train when you’re sick?
Basically: When you’re sick, your body has one priority – getting healthy. Training isn’t at the top then.
Mild symptoms like a runny nose or a little tiredness can sometimes be harmless, but intense strength training still often isn’t a good idea.
If you have stronger symptoms like fever, body aches, cough, sore throat, or chills, you should definitely not train.
Your immune system is working at full speed. Intense training would take energy away that your body needs for recovery.
Treeceps calculates your training volume and fatigue – but your body decides how much load it can handle.
A week or two off isn’t a disaster. Muscles don’t disappear right away – especially if you usually train regularly.
After illness, start back slowly: less weight, fewer sets, no high RPE. Listen to your energy and ease back in.
If you go full throttle too soon, you risk setbacks and longer downtime. Patience pays off here.
Use the time for rest, good sleep, and plenty of fluids. That speeds up recovery more than any workout.
When you’re healthy again, you’ll be surprised how quickly you can return to your old performance.
Summary: When sick, rest is training. Give your body what it needs, and you’ll bounce back faster.
