Chapter 22
How Do Steps Get Into Treeceps?
Greetings! Today I'm going to explain the ways in which your steps from the real world appear in Treeceps.
Generally, there are two different ways steps get into Treeceps: 1.) in the background via the Health app and 2.) immediately during use via Live Steps.
Any iPhone where Treeceps is available can automatically record steps in the background. A particularly energy-efficient coprocessor is used for this purpose.
This coprocessor saves the number of your steps in regular intervals (about every 30 minutes) into the health database, which is available on every iPhone.
With your permission, Treeceps can read this data and convert it into grass in the app, rewarding you for your activity and feeding your Runimals.
For this, you don't need to have the Treeceps app active, you don't need to have your iPhone unlocked. - You wouldn't even need to have the Treeceps app installed for this data to be collected.
With fitness trackers, such as Apple Watch or FitBit devices, you can also collect steps via the Health database when you're not carrying your iPhone.
However, you might want to see live how many steps you're taking at the exact moment you're using Treeceps and watch your grass grow!
This is possible with the Live Steps feature, available exclusively to club members. Here, motion data from your device is analyzed in real time, so steps appear instantly.
To make sure you don't get steps twice, this sensor data is intelligently merged with data from the Health database.
